New to Datamonitor’s Industry Dashboard this year are two additional categories, the sector and region categories. The inclusion of these categories will provide more levels of granularity across market deployments. This is important, as the increased adaptation to speech as an interface is laying the groundwork for even greater expansion of speech across multiple environments. Upon compiling and dissecting publicly announced customer wins from January through mid-March it has become very clear that companies are more reluctant to publicly announce their customer wins. This year started off slowly, as only 19 customer wins were publicly announced by companies in the embedded, PC, and network-based speech recognition industries. Network-based enterprise deployments accounted for the majority of wins, followed by PC and embedded deals. From a regional perspective, North America (NA) accounted for 73 percent of announced wins, followed by Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) with 16 percent and Asia-Pacific (APAC) with 11 percent. Vertical market perspective shows strong activity in the public sector, which accounted for 21 percent of deals, followed by the communications and healthcare markets, at 20 percent and 16 percent, respectively.
