Loquendo TTS Powers Online Language Learning Tool

Loquendo and Quizlet.com, a provider of online flashcards and study games in the United States, have partnered to offer text-to-speech (TTS) across Quizlet's more than 6 million user-generated flashcard sets.

Quizlet users now have access to Loquendo's TTS in more than 12 languages. The integration covers both Quizlet's flashcards and multiple study modes, such as the recently launched Speller, a next-generation study game that combines Loquendo TTS and adaptive learning, allowing users to practice foreign vocabulary, pronunciation, and spelling.

Since Quizlet launched the integration with Loquendo speech synthesis live on Quizlet.com, it has proved to be extremely popular, attracting many thousands of users in the first few days to try out and improve their language learning skills.

"Audio is a key part of the learning process. Thanks to Loquendo's TTS technology we can now offer it to our millions of users," said Andrew Sutherland, Quizlet's founder. "Loquendo's TTS technology blew us away."

"Quizlet has made a truly effective yet really enjoyable set of tools for learning in more than 12 languages," says Piergiorgio Vittori, Loquendo's area manager for the Americas. "It scores your results to let you know how you're getting on, and keeps pace with your learning progress so that you continue to improve."

Loquendo TTS is currently available in the following languages: U.S., U.K., Australian, and Indian English; Arabic; Russian; Mandarin Chinese; European and Canadian French; American, Castilian, Mexican, Chilean, Colombian, and Argentinian Spanish; European and Brazilian Portuguese; German; Dutch; Romanian; Polish; Greek; Turkish; Norwegian; Swedish; Danish; Finnish; Catalan; Valencian; Galician; Esperanto; and Italian, in both male and female voices, with more always under development.
