MetroPCS Offers Free Unlimited Voice-Activated Directory Assistance

Wireless carrier MetroPCS Communications earlier this week launched Metro411 Premium, a free and unlimited voice-activated directory assistance product to its customers.

Powered by V-Enable’s speech products for the mobile space, Metro411 Premium offers MetroPCS customers directory assistance with access to business and residential listings, maps, directions, and local information. The service is available at no additional cost in the $45 and $50 unlimited service plans.

"Consumers spend an enormous amount of money on directory assistance each month, which causes a great deal of frustration when they receive their wireless service bills," said Roger Linquist, founder and CEO of MetroPCS. "Metro411 Premium is another example of our dedication to providing customers an affordable, worry-free, full-wireless experience."

Users simply speak the listing they wish to access into their phone and receive detailed visual results on their handset within seconds. The service offering allows customers to save directory information for easy future access and share it with others through a simple text message.

Additionally, Metro411 Premium allows customers to:
• Search for 14 million U.S. businesses by name or category using voice or text input;
• Search for 140 million residential households using voice or text input;
• Access maps to see the location of a point of interest or address;
• Receive visual step-by-step driving directions to or from any location; and
• Find businesses and other points of interest nearby.

"We are excited to be powering the Metro411 Premium service. It represents a milestone in the industry being the first free enhanced directory service with unlimited access to business and residential listings, maps, directions and more," said Emerick Woods, CEO of V-Enable. "Best of all, customers can simply speak or type what they are looking for and see the results on their handset within seconds."
