OnMobile, an Indian telecom value-added services provider, acquired speech recognition company telisma for an undisclosed amount on July 1.

The addition of telisma’s speech recognition products and expertise is expected to enable OnMobile to accelerate its penetration into fast-growing emerging markets by developing new speech recognition language models. This technology enables quick and easy access to mobile applications and content and also strengthens OnMobile’s mobile applications product suite.

Telisma was created in 2000 as a spin-off of France Telecom’s Research and Development Laboratory. The Paris-based company also has operations in Europe and India.
