The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a grant to TravellingWave  for support of its Speech-to-Text Messaging project. This grant is for TravellingWave to conduct research for making its current technology more noise robust. The amount awarded by NSF was $100,000 for a period of six months, with a potential for larger grants in future. NSF is responsible for the overall health of science and engineering across all disciplines. Its awards are an outcome of a review process that primarily focuses on intellectual merits and broader impacts of the proposed technology to advance discoveries and knowledge.

TravellingWave technology, dubbed Predictive-Speech-to-Text, will enable text-input into devices using speech only. The company's current focus is speech-to-text input for Short Messaging Service or SMS.
