ART Responds to ScanSoft Lawsuit

TEL AVIV, Israel - ScanSoft, a supplier of speech and imaging products located in the Boston area, announced a few weeks ago that it has filed suit against ART alleging infringement of a patent that covers voice-activated dialing for mobile telephones.

The board of directors and the management team at ART consider this suit baseless, frivolous and completely without merit. According to ART, all of their substantial portfolio of intellectual property is well protected by more than 30 patents, and they fully intend to defend their technology and assert their market leadership in this matter.

According to ART, ART's products do not infringe the ScanSoft patent. The most obvious difference is that the ScanSoft patent relates to specific central server-based voice recognition technology and does not apply to the more advanced voice recognition technology located on the phone itself, which is the case with ART technology.

ART is extremely confident in the superior quality of their technology as well as its value to the future of their company. They are continuing to win customers and market share and this lawsuit will not distract them from their mission, nor will it slow our momentum in the voice technology marketplace.
