Adventist Health System to Implement M*Modal

Adventist Health System will deploy M*Modal's transcription and front-end speech recognition system and pilot its computer-assisted physician documentation system in 41 AHS facilities across nine states.

With this multifacility deployment, M*Modal will provide Adventist Health System with its full suite of unified, speech-driven documentation solutions, enabling clinicians to create complete and compliant notes from any location directly in their Cerner and athenahealth EHR systems.

M*Modal's front-end speech recognition solution, Fluency Direct, will provide automated computer-assisted physician documentation functionality to deliver in-workflow insights to Adventist Health System physicians as they interact with Cerner Dynamic Documentation and the athenahealth EHR. To begin with, Adventist Health System will use this real-time technology to address gaps in documentation quality and variance in patient care, with the goal of delivering increasingly more complex protocols and best practices to physicians when needed most.

"M*Modal utilizes a single speech recognition engine for both back-end and front-end speech recognition, which should facilitate physician's adoption of front-end speech recognition, thereby decreasing turnaround time so reports are available promptly for the physicians" said Brent Snyder, chief information officer at Adventist Health System, in a statement.

"Adventist Health System is a leader in the healthcare industry, and we are proud to serve as a partner to help continuously innovate its clinical documentation operations to support emerging models of care," said Scott Mackenzie, CEO of M*Modal, in a statement. "We look forward to achieving our shared goal of advancing the quality of care as well as physician efficiency by delivering a ubiquitous documentation experience with real-time, actionable clinical intelligence. We are pleased to be part of Adventist Health System’s go-forward clinical documentation strategy, along with their EMR partner, to address both current and future documentation needs."
