Clarity and Dspfactory Form Partnership

TROY, MI and WATERLOO, ON - Clarity LLC, a signal processing software company, and Dspfactory Ltd., a provider of open programmable digital signal processing (DSP) technology, announced a strategic partnership that will improve the clarity of audio communications in a wide range of portable communication devices. The companies have joined forces to offer Clarity's CVC (Clear Voice Capture) software with Dspfactory's BelaSigna chipset and will work together to promote a complete digital solution for a variety of audio-related markets. Users of small, portable communications devices, such as PDAs, cell phones and mobile hands-free systems, including those using the Bluetooth wireless standard, often find themselves in noisy environments that hinder clear communication. CVC locks in on the speaker's voice, freeing it from interfering background audio clutter including road noise, music, machinery and other nearby voices, optimizing the user's ability to communicate with the portable device. BelaSigna performs advanced analog/digital signal conversions and then, using its WOLA DSP filterbank, delivers processing power all on a single chip. It does this while consuming little power -- an essential attribute for battery-powered portable communication devices. "Clarity's customers increasingly require advanced digital solutions that fit into small form factor and draw very little power," said Clarity president and CEO Raymond Gunn. "Dspfactory has developed a unique chip that is a fraction of the size of a person's smallest fingernail, yet delivers the signal processing capability to enable powerful software solutions, like Clarity's CVC technology, that improve clarity and intelligibility. Clarity expects to deploy this technology with many of its customers' applications and develop products with other Clarity Partner Program members to create intelligent microphones for many consumer products." "BelaSigna is specifically designed for portable communication devices where power and size are as important as high fidelity," said Geoff Bellew, Dspfactory's vice president of sales and marketing. "Dspfactory is pleased that Clarity has chosen to port its sophisticated CVC technology onto Dspfactory's platform. Clarity has world-class software and Dspfactory has world-class signal processing chips that combined create a perfect solution for a number of applications." "Having Clarity join Dspfactory's growing Strategic Alliance Partnership Program (SAPP) is very exciting," Bellew continued. "The joint CVC and BelaSigna solution will be a valuable offering to those seeking a complete turnkey solution."
