ELSA Raises $3.2 Million

ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant), a mobile app for language learners, says it has raised $3.2 million in a Pre-A funding round. The round was led by Monk’s Hill Ventures, whose managing partner, Peng T. Ong, will join Elsa’s board.

According to reports, ELSA will use the capital to hire talent to develop new AI capabilities, open its voice recognition API, and expand its speech recognition technology to teach new languages. Currently, ELSA’s voice recognition technology allows language learners to improve their accent, pitch, and intonation when speaking English. However, the company plans to expand to new languages. The app pinpoints errors in pronunciation and accent to provide real-time feedback and suggest ways for users to improve their language skills.
