Eicon Networks Introduces New Shiva VPN Gateways

BOSTON - Eicon Networks announced the introduction of the Shiva VPN Gateways range with new security features and software. The gateways include the Shiva VPN Client and the Shiva Security Manager along with authentication options, data encryption, routing, and firewall functionality.

The VPN Gateways are backed by Eicon's support. Initially targeted at the medium enterprise, the Shiva VPN Gateway range offers connectivity ranging from 10 to 10,000 VPN tunnels with 10 to 85 Mbps 3DES encryption throughput. The gateways allow businesses to create communications networks.

The range offers deployment flexibility, giving users the choice of using the VPN functionality with the integrated firewall or in conjunction with an existing firewall. Administrators can deploy VPN tunnels based on Shiva's interoperable IPSec or the Shiva Smart Tunneling (SST) protocol. The VPN Gateways and the Shiva VPN Client interoperate with a variety of authentication and authorization schema to deliver connectivity within a wide range of security infrastructures. A number of VPN authentication methods are supported, including RADIUS, SecurID and PKI. 

All the gateways come with the Shiva Security Manager software to manage up to 1024 Shiva VPN Gateways from a single location. This Windows based software provides configuration with features for policy management, software upgrades and monitoring. The included Shiva eWeb Manager allows SSL-secured gateway configuration from any device that has a browser. This gives access to wizards that facilitate the setup of the VPN and firewall configurations.

Each gateway includes the Shiva VPN Client software, which is licensed for an unlimited number of users when used in conjunction with the hardware device. The software is installed on Windows-based PCs for remote users to access business email, office-based data and applications over the Internet. Users connect to their office or central site through private, encrypted tunnels across the Internet that extends between their desktops and the corporate network.
