ATLANTA, GA - Glenayre Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEMS), a provider of advanced and next-generation communications solutions, announced it will work with Nuance, a provider of software for a voice-driven world, to extend its voice portal solutions for service providers worldwide. By using their voice, individuals will be able to access voice, fax and e-mail messages and information services, such as sports scores and driving directions, from a phone or wireless device. "Nuance is committed to working with leading companies, such as Glenayre, to help service providers realize the business benefits of voice-driven applications," said Ron Croen, president and CEO of Nuance. "Glenayre's innovative voice-powered self-service solutions will help service providers better serve their subscribers, while generating revenue and improving customer retention." "Voice is the easiest and most instinctive way to communicate, which is why Glenayre believes voice-powered solutions, such as those offered by Nuance, will pave the way for a more rapid uptake of voice portals and personal communications portals," said Rolf Madson, Vice President of Product Management for Glenayre. "With a simple voice interface, individuals will be able to say, 'Read me my voice mail' or 'Get directions,' and their information will be instantly sent to the destination of their choice -- computer, phone or wireless device. Flexibility and positive experiences associated with voice portals and personal communications portals will promote customer bonding, and solidify new revenue streams for wireless and wireline service providers alike."
