IBM Announces WebSphere Voice Server 3.1

BOCA RATON, FL - IBM WebSphere Voice Server for Windows 2000 and AIX, V3.1 (which replaces Voice Server V2.0) allows companies to leverage their existing Web infrastructures to enable voice access to existing Web applications by wireline and wireless phones. The software includes tools that enable developers to develop and deploy voice-enabled e-business solutions, using industry standard technology such as Java and VoiceXML. WebSphere Voice Server for Windows 2000 and AIX, V3.1 includes:
  • A speech recognition engine (speech-to-text software) which detects and recognizes words spoken over a telephone, then passes those words to an application as text
  • A text-to-speech (TTS) engine (voice synthesis software) which synthesizes speech from application text for playback over a telephone
  • Connection to many telephony platforms, including both WebSphere Voice Response for AIX and WebSphere Voice Response for Windows (formerly known as DirectTalk for AIX and DirectTalk for Windows), Intel Dialogic, and Cisco
  • Development tools, including support for applications written in VoiceXML, JavaƤ Beans, or C Complimentary copies of the following products:
  • WebSphere Voice Toolkit, which includes a VoiceXML editor, grammar editor, and a pronunciation builder, allows application developers to easily add voice technology to middleware applications.
  • WebSphere Voice Server SDK (software developer's kit), which provides tools for prototyping VoiceXML applications on a PC without a telephony server, and the necessary speech recognition and TTS engines for testing applications developed with WebSphere Voice Toolkit or Studio.
  • WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Developer Edition, V4.0 which can be used for internal evaluation and for the development, demonstration, and testing of applications. It also provides open standards, the core element in many e-business solution offerings, by offering a rich set of application deployment services and transaction management
