IP Unity Glenayre and Carolina West Wireless Partner

ORLANDO, Fla. - IP Unity Glenayre partnered with Carolina West Wireless to integrate QUALCOMM's patent-pending Short Voice Service (SVS) solution onto BREW devices.

SVS, a new form of SMS, allows users to record, send, and receive messages as voice, as opposed to traditional text messages. The recipient receives a SVS message notification in the same manner as an SMS notification, but the recipient listens to the message rather than reading it.

"The integration and adoption of QUALCOMM's patent-pending BREW-based SVS mobile client by IP Unity Glenayre and Carolina West Wireless is an exciting opportunity to bring this value-added solution to consumers," stated Mitch Oliver, Vice President of Solutions and Marketing for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "We continue to look forward to opportunities that bring similar value-added service differentiators to the wireless data industry."

Carolina West Wireless is a CDMA2000® network operator and has recently deployed IP Unity Glenayre's Versera ICE multi-services applications platform to enable delivery of full-featured voicemail to its cellular subscribers. The carrier is a regional cellular provider serving rural markets in Western North Carolina.
