IVONA Text to Speech Launches "IVONA for Developers"

IVONA Text to Speech, a developer and provider of text-to-speech (TTS) technology, yesterday unveiled IVONA for Developers, a new free online resource for mobile applications developers seeking to integrate voices into TTS services.

The new portal, available at http://www.ivona.com/developer, offers everything developers need to incorporate TTS functionality into mobile application, including access to the IVONA Speech Cloud Service and software development kits for Android, Windows Phone 7, and Linux, with iOS, QNX, and RIM/BlackBerry planned for introduction.

"We introduced IVONA Speech Cloud Service in 2010 and surpassed 50 million hits our first year. IVONA has focused on helping mobile application developers integrate the most lifelike TTS voices on the market to increase the attractiveness and usability of their applications," said Lukasz Osowski, IVONA's CEO. "With the launch of the free 'IVONA for Developers' portal, all developers will now have a single, authoritative source for the information and tools to help them determine the best route for integrating TTS and for incorporating IVONA voices in the most practical way possible. We invite developers across all platforms to utilize this free resource and differentiate their products using the industry's most lifelike and intelligible TTS voices."

The IVONA for Developers portal also provides up-to-date tutorials and tips to help developers make the correct choices for all their projects: "It took us one day to implement IVONA Speech Cloud Services for our automotive solution, based on the MeeGo In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) platform. Now drivers can listen to necessary information in a convenient and safe way," said Marek Wodzislawski, Ericpol-Telecom.

The IVONA for Developers portal offers mobile application developers two paths to efficiently integrate TTS functionality: developers can tap directly into IVONA's Speech Cloud Service, which is platform independent and can be used on any connected device, or developers who want to embed voices directly into applications can download a software development kit for today's most popular platforms.
