Interactions Hires New Sales EVP

Bob Murphy has joined Interactions, a provider of innovative customer care technology for automated voice platforms and other interactive systems, as executive vice president of sales. Murphy most recently served as vice president of North American sales at Cognos, a leader in business intelligence and financial performance management.

Murphy began his career at Cognos more than 13 years ago, starting as a sales representative and rising to senior management, where he played a key role in helping Cognos grow from a $20 million company focused on business intelligence revenues to a $1 billion global leader in performance management. Acquired by IBM for $5 billion, Cognos provides software, services and support to more than 23,000 leading companies and organizations around the world.

“Bob’s track record of continually setting and exceeding new benchmarks in executive sales management is simply outstanding,” said Mike Iacobucci, president and CEO of Interactions. “We are delighted that he’s joined and expect to benefit from his rich experience and contagious enthusiasm in scaling customer-focused technology companies.”/p>

“The passion and track record of the Interactions management team, combined with rapid growth in product adoption, made it an easy and natural decision for me to come on board,” commented Murphy. “I’ve been in the technology sales field for 25 years, and the level of satisfaction among Interactions customers is unlike anything I’ve seen before.”

Interactions also announced that Phil Gray, who served as executive vice president of sales and marketing since 2008, will transition to executive vice president of marketing and business development. Along with marketing responsibilities, Gray will focus on strategic alliances and initiatives that extend Interactions’ capabilities to new markets and customers.

As a result of a major uptick in customer demand for Interactions’ HumanTouch technology, and a corresponding increase in the volume of consumer calls handled, last month the company began a new round of hiring in its Indianapolis and Austin, Texas, locations.

“Bob will be instrumental in positioning our sales organization to fully capitalize on this growth and propel Interactions to a new level,” said Gray. “In transitioning to my new role, I am looking forward to leading our marketing and business development initiatives while delivering significant value to our customers and partners.”
