Joliet Junior College Adopts MIR3 Emergency Notification Platform

Joliet Junior College has awarded MIR3 a contract to be the official emergency notification platform for its main campus in Joliet, Ill., and its extended campuses and extension centers.

MIR3’s inCampusAlert allows for instant dissemination of vital information to and from any communications device and medium, including cell phones, email, pagers, land line telephones, and text messages.

"The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff is a responsibility we take seriously," said Jim Serr, interim vice president of learner support and technology services at JJC. "Our investment in MIR3 and its inCampusAlert notification system will allow us to communicate with anyone in the college community, on any device, and at a moment’s notice."

MIR3’s notification capabilities are also used for routine, high-volume messaging and all-purpose broadcasting, such as administrative notices to employees, messages for coordinating staffing, and weather updates. Additionally, MIR3’s system allows for two-way text messaging with real-time reports detailing recipient responses, and integrates an incident management tool.

"In the wake of the tragedy at Virginia Tech last April, schools across the country have begun—at a very rapid rate—to realize an urgent notification system is a must-have for a campus community," said Ken Dixon, executive vice president at MIR3. "JJC is one of more than 100 schools that are now utilizing our solution to help keep students, faculty and staff safe."
