Net Mobile Deploys PipeBeach VoiceXML Platform for Mobile Entertainment Services

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN and DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - PipeBeach, a developer of VoiceXML platforms for telecom operators, announced that net mobile AG has deployed the PipeBeach speechWeb platform to provide a suite of mobile entertainment services including Karaoke Mailbox, Mailbox Messages and Mobile Greeting to German mobile operators. The German mobile service provider, net mobile AG, provides technical infrastructure, content and custom-made mobile services that are independent of time and place to a number of European mobile operators. Services provided by net mobile can be used by more than 350 million mobile users worldwide. net mobile AG has launched three entertainment services running on speechWeb, PipeBeach's carrier-class VoiceXML platform. The services are offered and promoted to the German end users through mobile operators, including Internet portal companies, and major mobile operators. The entertainment service suite consists of the following applications: -The Karaoke Mailbox service allows the mobile user to record its own voice together with pre-recorded messages or music. The recorded sound-file is used as a personal message in the voice mail; -The Mailbox Message service allows the mobile user to change the voice mail greeting message in their voice mail with pre-recorded sound-files such as a famous voice, an artist or a funny story; -The Mobile Greeting service lets the mobile user send a pre-recorded sound-file as a greeting to someone's mailbox. The mobile entertainment service suite has been developed in co-operation between net mobile and PipeBeach. The services are designed using VoiceXML, the open web mark-up language for voice applications standardized by W3C (World Wide Web Consortia). Using VoiceXML's inherent support for web and Internet application development, net mobile could develop and integrate the full set of applications with its existing multi-channel infrastructure within two months. The user interface to the applications is in the first release based on touch-tone commands and is prepared to support speech recognition. Theodor Niehues, CEO of net mobile AG: "With PipeBeach, we have made the strategic choice to use the open VoiceXML standard. Thus, we can offer rapid service deployment, high performance and fulfil our customer's expectations on quality. We are highly satisfied with the flexibility and easy deployment of PipeBeach's speechWeb platform." "We are proud of the fact that one of Europe's leading service providers, net mobile has selected our open speechWeb platform as the base for the commercial deployment of a number of fun, innovative and revenue generating mobile entertainment services" says Christer Granberg, PipeBeach CEO and co-founder. "The choice of net mobile to use the standardised VoiceXML mark-up language for the design of the interactive user interface is yet another confirmation of VoiceXML as the preferred way of developing carrier-grade IVR services."
