Nuance Powers New Genius Search for T-Mobile Smartphones

Nuance has announced that its Dragon voice and natural language understanding technologies are powering T-Mobile's new Genius Search feature on the T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q.

Accessed via T-Mobile's voice-enabled Genius Button, Genius Search allows users to speak to get instant, direct access to information and mobile content from over 200 content providers.

T-Mobile's Genius Button already provides one-shot, voice-enabled access to calls, text messaging, email, and navigation. With the addition of Genius Search, people now have a more intelligent and intuitive way to find content and information on the mobile Web. Genius Search delivers results from content providers such as AccuWeather, Bing, Expedia, Facebook, Pandora, Spotify, Twitter, Wikipedia, Wolfram|Alpha, YouTube, Yahoo!, and others.

"People expect instant gratification when it comes to accessing mobile content and information, and they want it from the content providers they know and trust," Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile, said in a statement. "T-Mobile's Genius Search does just that—combines the power of Dragon and Nuance's innovative natural language understanding to give instant, direct access to content."
