Pannone & Partners has become the latest law firm to implement a digital dictation workflow and speech recognition solution from SRC.

In the initial phase, the technology is being rolled out to 96 staff in the firm's Personal Injury department. The firm will use the systems to provide a more flexible and efficient work procedure for both fee earners and secretaries, as well as reducing document turnaround times and improving client service.

The digital dictation system, built on WinScribe technology, allows dictation to be recorded digitally via a range of different input devices, including hand held recorders, microphones connected to a computer, or telephones. These digital files are sent automatically (over LAN, WAN, Intranet or the Internet) via the WinScribe workflow system to an appropriate available secretary for completion.

Rachel Dobson, Pannone & Partners' Director of Support Services, said "The firm had previously been using digital dictation and speech recognition technology from another supplier but has chosen SRC for this major rollout because of the superior functionality of the WinScribe digital dictation solution and SRC's experience in deployment, support and speech recognition vocabularies. We were keen to choose a world-class product and WinScribe is clearly the market leader."

The WinScribe system, on which the SRC solution is based, features a user interface for fee earners, along with built-in reports and a custom report writer to allow administrators to monitor how fast dictations are being turned around and performance levels. It also allows the allocation of files to be managed and changed, so workloads can be controlled without interrupting the individual who is creating the recording in the first instance. "

Because of WinScribe's Software Development Kit, we also have the potential to easily integrate the solution with our existing case and matter management system." Added Ms Dobson. "World-class technologies such as WinScribe offer the assurances of continuous product investment, a clear product development roadmap and regular software upgrades. It's something not all suppliers can promise." said SRC's CEO, Chris Hart. "We were extremely pleased Pannone & Partners recognized the superiority of our technologies and have chosen SRC for this major deployment."
