Vivox today announced a new partnership with online community Gaia Online to bring voice chat to zOMG!, the site’s free browser-based MMO.

Gaia Online’s more than 8 million unique monthly visitors have seamless access to zOMG!, an adventure that blends social online community experiences with accessible MMO gameplay. With Vivox voice, zOMG! players will now have channels to coordinate game play, trade stories, and socialize, all while sharing in the zOMG! experience. With Vivox, players will be able to further customize avatars with voice fonts that will give unique tones to their voices. This feature will be available in the Gaia storefront and will make each voice experience distinct and memorable.

“Gaia Online has defined the social Web experience for millions of teens and young adults,” said Rob Seaver, CEO of Vivox. “And voice is the ultimate social glue. By adding voice chat to zOMG!, Gaia Online proves, again, its commitment to providing a truly social experience for its players.”

“Chat capabilities add a brilliant new element to zOMG! that will bring players together and create excitement within the community,” said David Georgeson, senior producer and creative director at Gaia Online. “Vivox understands the present needs of online games and social networks and has unique insight into the direction technology must take to support and nurture the emerging social Web. In addition to a great service, Vivox brings new virtual goods that fit seamlessly into our offering.”
