Contarra Systems and Radisys Join Forces
Contarra and Radisys team up to create an industry-leading dservice delivery platform for telco's, service providers and their development partners.
Eemnes - NL (4/20/2010) -

RadiSys, a provider of hardware and software platforms for next-generation IP-based wireless, wireline and video networks, has joined forces with Contarra Systems, a worldwide telecommunications software company specializing in multi-purpose communications solutions, to offer new possibilities for both solution providers and telecom operators.

This co-operation has resulted in the integration of the RadiSys Convedia Media Server with Contarra’s Cameleon XR service delivery platform. RadiSys’ Convedia Media Servers are characterized by a number of groundbreaking features:

  • Carrier-class media processing capabilities for enterprise IP telecommunication services;
  • Delivery of multi-service versatility for numerous applications including IP PBX, instant video conferencing, IP contact centers and unified communication solutions;
  • Consolidation of the functions of traditional announcement and recording servers, audio and video conference bridges, interactive voice response units, messaging equipment and speech platforms
  • Interoperability through open standards;
  • Based on eXMP media processing technology;
  • Dynamic maximization of media processing capacity;
  • Improved security and management features;
  • Highest capacity media server in a 1RU package; and
  • Per port capital and operational costs significantly below TDM-based technology.
The Convedia Media Server, together with Contarra’s Cameleon XR 1.2 offering, allows users to:
  • Create complex high-quality voice and video services in a short timeframe;
  • Run and manage carrier-grade services in both C7 legacy and IMS/SIP domains;
  • Integrate Video Services (3G-324M), Video over IP technology, and messaging;
  • Manage and orchestrate multiple services;
  • Control application behavior and resource management;
  • Enjoy support of open VXML 2.1 and CCXML 1.0 standards (alongside a comprehensive API);
  • Benefit from open interfaces to OSS and BSS services, databases, speech technology, and other third-party products; and
  • Avoid application or hardware vendor lock-in as a result of open standards support.

Cameleon’s service empowerment enables service providers and their application development partners to rapidly develop and deploy successful core drivers for profitability in competitive market contexts and, of course, to boost revenue.
