Loquendo has released LVIS-Pre Forensic, a new tool designed to meet the needs of forensic criminal investigators.

LVIS (Loquendo Voice Investigation System) is a stand-alone tool that allows trained personnel to create voiceprints and perform voice identification for investigatory purposes. LVIS performs speaker separation, language identification, gender detection, and speaker identification using standard audio files, regardless of the method of collection.

LVIS-Pre Forensic is the next step in the evolution of the LVIS product line, and is designed to assist law enforcement agencies in the confirmation of a suspect’s identity by adding in a new set of features:

• Log Likelihood Ratio Calculation: the forensic industry standard for describing the likelihood of a voice matching a specific subject versus a reference population;
• Tippett Plots: a visual validation of the Log Likelihood Ratio, clearly showing the reliability of the results;
• Reference Population Selection: More than 65 gender, channel, and language reference populations are now built and selectable by the operator; custom reference populations can also be easily built for enhanced reliability; and
• Flexible Channel Normalization: operators can supply recordings from non-standard collection methods to recalibrate the system.

LVIS-Pre Forensic is designed for forensic specialists supporting law enforcement and intelligence services around the world. In collaboration with forensic scientists worldwide, future releases will include standardized reports that can be submitted by experts as testimony in a court of law.
