Nexidia Expands Intellectual Property Portfolio with Two More U.S. Patents for Speech Analytics Technology
New techniques enhance search across massive archives of audio and video content.
Atlanta, GA (5/24/2011) -

ATLANTA – May 24, 2011 – Nexidia, a provider of customer interaction analytics solutions for business transformation, today announced new advances in its core technology with two more U.S. patent awards that dramatically improve the speed and functionality of its entire range of phonetic search solutions. These awards expand Nexidia's intellectual property portfolio to 12 U.S. patents since 2007.'

Nexidia's Multi-Resolution Searching (U.S. Patent No. 7,949,527) enhances the speed and scalability of dialogue search across very large audio and video archives. This latest patent extends Nexidia's phonetic search technology and enables users to perform an ad-hoc search at any time, looking for anything from a single word to a complex combination of phrases, returning results from hundreds of thousands of hours of content in just seconds.

This need has become critical for all of Nexidia's key markets. Contact centers increasingly record up to 100 percent of customer service calls, which contain valuable sources of business intelligence that provide the true voice of the customer to support business decisions. But this can mean tens of thousands of hours of content recorded on a daily basis, driving the need to search across this massive library to surface the trends and topics that provide this relevant business information.

Likewise, Nexidia's customers in the entertainment and media industry are building extensive archives of both current and historical footage, and require solutions that allow them to quickly scan through libraries to streamline the editing process or to make content more accessible for their consumers. With a simple integration into their media asset management systems or Web sites, customers can now augment their traditional metadata capabilities with fast, accurate dialogue search and tagging for even the largest archives.

"Nexidia differentiates itself by investing in innovations that expand our core technology," said John Willcutts, Nexidia's president and CEO. "This benefits customers because we can more quickly advance the state-of-the-art in phonetic indexing and search and meet customer needs for superior applications that help them grow their businesses."

Nexidia also received an earlier patent for Spoken-Word Spotting Queries (U.S. Patent No. 7,904,296, issued March 8, 2011) that supports phonetic search using an existing clip identified in a recording. Searching based on audio clips can often yield improved results, especially when looking for content such as slang or foreign terms that are difficult to spell normally, or where media assets contain multiple languages in a single recording. This capability has proven extremely useful with Nexidia customers in the correctional facility, intelligence, and law enforcement industries.

A full list of Nexidia's patents is available on the company's Web site.
