Mumbai, Mah (7/15/2008) - Mumbai, India, On July 15th 2008, Phonologies (India) announced the availability of its latest version of Oktopous ccXML Interpreter Engine for free download. This version, Oktopous v1.2, is based on the original open-source Oktopous ccXML PIK developed and released by Phonologies on SourceForge, with significant improvements in performance and full compliance with the latest CCXML 1.0 draft specification published by the World Wide Web Consortium.
According to Rajkiran Talusani, vice president of technology for Phonologies, "Our latest version of Oktopous has significant improvements in performance over its predecessor and has been designed for portability and high-density telephony platforms, enabling rich call control functions like controlling how phone calls are placed, answered, transferred, conferenced, and more, by executing simple XML documents."
CCXML allows for sophisticated, event-based, and asynchronous call-control capabilities in unified communication systems, messaging and conferencing suites, interactive speech and telephony servers, and automatic call distributors, and is being widely adopted in carier class equipment. "Keep in mind that CCXML technology adoption will explode once it becomes a W3C standard in the near future", added Rajkiran.
This latest version, developed for Linux systems, has a well-defined application programming interface for integrating into to the target telephony platform, for example a Session Initiation Protocol-based messaging or conferencing suite, or a proprietary protocol-based telephony board. Once integrated, solution vendors or hosting providers can build and trial sophisticated telephony applications prior to going live commercially. Phonologies has also announced that it will make available a Windows version of Oktopous by the end of August.
Phonologies offers flexible integration support and licensing packages, covering redistribution rights, warranties, upgrades and maintenance. The open-source version of Oktopous, which has been adopted by more telephony platforms than any other open-source ccXML Browser, will continue to remain available for download at http://sourceforge.net/projects/oktopous/. Oktopous v1.2 is available for download through Phonologies Web site at www.phonologies.com.
