SpinVox Makes New Friends

Speech-to-text provider SpinVox announced the appointment of two executives who will spearhead its unified communications business, emphasizing the company’s growing interest in the burgeoning market.

The British company named Todd Woodstra vice president of global unified communications sales and Brian Tyler unified communications business development manager. Both men have ample experience in speech. Woodstra originally led the Global Network Speech division at Nuance Communications. Tyler spent a decade at Nuance, where he most recently was  senior global channel sales executive following a promotion from director of OEM channel sales.

With the predicted uptake of unified communications solutions, SpinVox has already sought to position itself to take advantage of this promising market. In February, it released CallMail for Call Centers and Enterprise Voicemail—two major components in the company’s unified communications portfolio.  Both have experienced encouraging growth and are live with British companies like Centrica, a major energy provider, and Boots, a leading pharmaceutical retailer.

Earlier this month, SpinVox announced a parternship with Avaya which, according to SpinVox cofounder and chief strategic officer Daniel Doulton, will bolster the company’s position. "Membership in Avaya’s developer community will help us build our business by expanding the availability and application of our voice-to-text services," Doulton says.  "As such, SpinVox is already involved with Avaya's Modular Messaging Solution and will be announcing involvement with other programs in the near future. In addition to our partnership with Avaya, we'll be announcing partnerships with other global providers of business communications applications, systems, and services in the near future."

Doulton adds that the company’s experience with carriers on four continents underscores the ease-of-use of SpinVox’s services, which allows consumers to build their own unified messaging environments linking home, work, and mobile.
