Avaya Expands DeveloperConnection Program to Include Systems Integrators, Service Providers and Customers

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Avaya Inc. announced it is expanding membership in its DeveloperConnection program for third-party developers in order to drive the creation of innovative business applications for Internet protocol telephony-based networks.  The company said it is broadening the elite program to include systems integrators, service providers and Avaya customers.

By expanding membership in DeveloperConnection, Avaya is promoting the development of new open, standards-based features and applications that businesses can use to integrate communications into their operations to achieve competitive advantage.

The Avaya DeveloperConnection program currently lists more than 400 software and hardware developer companies around the world as members.  Among them are: eTalk, Extreme Networks, Hewlett-Packard and Onyx Software.  Members have created solutions tested for Avaya compliance, including natural language speech recognition applications, wireless services, specialized computer telephony integration and reporting capabilities, and applications for specific vertical industries.

As a member of the DeveloperConnection program, companies have access to a range of support from Avaya, including technical resources and training.  Member companies must also meet Avaya criteria for customer satisfaction, product support, business operations, marketing and sales.

There are three levels of participation in the DeveloperConnection program: Innovator, Premier and Strategic, entailing progressive levels of marketing and sales involvement by the members. Innovator members receive access to discounted hardware and software, software development kits and technical support. Premier members are those who have developed software applications that complement Avaya platforms. In addition to those benefits available to Innovators, these companies are eligible for co-marketing opportunities with Avaya.

Strategic members add the eligibility to compliance-test their applications on Avaya platforms.  In addition, these members work with a dedicated Avaya program manager to implement marketing strategies and participate in focused sales engagements and revenue commitments.

In addition to expanding membership in its DeveloperConnection program, Avaya is also creating a technology incubator that enables developers and individuals to learn about Avaya technologies, obtain discounted pricing for certification training and products, and have access to the company's application programming interfaces at no cost.  The incubator is open without restriction to anyone interested in creating new features and applications that are compatible with Avaya communications solutions.
