NeoSpeech TTS Featured in AAC Speech Application

NeoSpeech, a provider of  text-to-speech (TTS) software and speech-enabled solutions, announced today that an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) speech application called DIME, from DIME Technologia, features high-quality TTS voices from NeoSpeech. DIME is a dynamic iPad application that allows people with speech disabilities to improve their personal autonomy and communication with others.

DIME has five tools (Communicator, I want/ I am, Clock, Blackboard, and Album), all designed to facilitate, encourage and improve communication. Unlike other AAC speech apps, DIME offers two TTS languages from NeoSpeech: English voices, Julie and Paul and Spanish voice, Violeta.

"We are proud to be part of DIME's mission. We believe that NeoSpeech Text-to-Speech will benefit people with speech disabilities to communicate with other people," said Christopher Moon, CEO of NeoSpeech, in a statement.

The project idea came from the needs of a particular case and the desire to provide benefits to people with mental disabilities, effects on the language and even mild motor impairments. DIME is aimed at those with a physical disability and/or mental impairment in addition to a speech disability.

In 2010, thanks to the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), a special education school of Navarra (ISTERRIA), an association of parents of children with intellectual disabilities (ANFAS), in partnership with a multidisciplinary committee of engineers, speech therapists, and psychologists began work on a touchscreen communicator. The result of these two years of work is DIME.

DIME is available now in the Apple App Store.
