Honda to Offer Siri Eyes Free Integration

American Honda Motor Co. today announced that select Honda and Acura models, including the 2013 -2014 Honda Accord and 2013 Acura RDX and ILX, now offer Apple's Siri Eyes Free mode as a dealer-installed accessory.

With Siri Eyes Free integration, users of Apple's iPhones and other iOS devices can direct Siri to perform tasks while they keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. By reengineering the software in select vehicles (through the HondaLink or AcuraLink connected car systems) Siri seamlessly works with HandsFreeLink via the onboard microphone and speakers.

Witht he Siri integration, drivers can do the following:

  • Send text messages and email;
  • Read incoming text messages and email;
  • Set up calendar entries, reminders, and alarms;
  • Check the weather;
  • Access turn-by-turn voice navigation (when the audio system is set to Bluetooth Audio or iPod mode); and
  • Check sports scores and stock quotes.

Siri is available on iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPad (3rd and 4th generations), iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation).
