Microsoft Expands Cortana to More European Countries

Microsoft has extended support for its Cortana mobile virtual assistant application to Germany, Spain, Italy, and France.

Microsoft launched a beta version of Cortana in the United States in April as part of Windows Phone 8.1. Soon thereafter it released the product in the United Kingdom, China too, and several other countries in alpha.

As with the Canada, India, and Australia launch in July, the latest rollout will be a slightly restricted alpha version with limited functionality.

The digital assistant will only be available to those who have signed up for the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program. Microsoft has said that it will be seeking input from the developer community to improve Cortana’s speech and language-recognition capabilities.
