M*Modal Updates Fluency Direct Speech Software

M*Modal, a provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding solutions, has added computer-assisted physician documentation (CAPD) to its M*Modal Fluency Direct speech software. This capability provides real-time feedback to physicians as they dictate or type clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

M*Modal Fluency Direct is cloud-based, front-end speech recognition software that enables doctors to conversationally create and edit clinical data directly within the EHR. Embedded within Fluency Direct, CAPD automatically identifies the most common documentation deficiencies and automatically generates feedback to the physician, asking for additional information or clarification when appropriate.

"Patient records must be accurate and complete for ensuring proper diagnosis and for driving downstream processes like coding and reimbursements," said Matt Jenkins, senior vice president of business development at M*Modal, in a statement. "M*Modal's solutions promote better documentation by giving healthcare providers tools to create patient records at the beginning of the care cycle. And with CAPD, physicians get immediate feedback as they dictate or type, helping to ensure they're creating quality documents."

M*Modal's new solution seamlessly fits within physician workflows. CAPD displays are integrated in the Fluency Direct user interface, and once an identified deficiency is resolved, the related feedback message disappears.
