Loquendo TTS to Power Saltillo ChatPC-4

Saltillo, a provider of communication devices for the disabled, has chosen Loquendo Embedded TTS to power its ChatPC-4 product line.

The ChatPC-4, with synthesized speech output, is a device for people who can not use their natural voices. It incorporates PalmChat, a word-based vocabulary for creating words and phrases on the fly by pressing buttons on the ChatPC-4.

The original ChatPC was introduced in 2000. It is built upon a Pocket PC computer, allowing the use of Pocket PC applications like Pocket Word and Pocket Excel.

"Our products are more than technology. They become the voice of individuals who are unable to use their natural voice," Dave Hershberger, president of Saltillo, said in a statement. "The naturalness and quality of Loquendo speech synthesis helps us to provide the best possible voice for these individuals."
