Growing Number of U.S. Companies License Text-To-Speech from Wizzard

/>PITTSBURGH , PA - Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced new licensing agreements for their text-to-speech products and services to be used in a variety of markets across the U.S.

"We've been in the speech technology business for over eight years," says Chris Spencer, CEO of Wizzard Software. "In those eight years we haven't seen this kind of widespread utilization and demand for high quality speech technologies. Businesses are incorporating speech to save labor, assist people with disabilities, train military personnel and broadcast timely data. We feel confident that this is only the beginning of a widespread adoption of speech technology by businesses in the U.S. and abroad."

Below are a few of the organizations and companies that have recently licensed speech technology from Wizzard:

  • The Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren , Virginia will be using the technology to evaluate a software prototype that will use text-to-speech technology to relay information when performing tasks such as ship maintenance.
  • Applied Human Factors, Inc., out of Helotes , Texas , is incorporating TTS into the four members of their REACH family of on-screen keyboards (REACH Smart Speech, REACH Tablet, REACH Tablet Plus, and REACH Sound-It-Out Keyboard). Applied Human Factors conducts research and develops products in the area of assistive technology targeted for those with physical disabilities who have trouble using a standard keyboard or mouse, individuals who have trouble communicating with their own voice (i.e. speech augmentation) and users with learning disabilities needing help typing or spelling faster and more accurately.
  • Media Semantics, located in Bellevue , Washington , are using the technology in their flagship Character Toolkit that lets non-animators choose from a variety of cartoon and realistic characters and then create presentations for delivery on virtually any platform via the Macromedia Flash SWF format. The Toolkit supports the ATandT Natural Voices TTS engine as a means of rapidly creating a high-quality sound track that remains consistent as material is added and updated. Media Semantics also provides a Character Server product that allows a web server produce character presentation streams on demand of dynamic information such as news and weather, results from database and web-service queries or data input from end-users.
