At the Macworld Conference and Expo today, MacSpeech announced the release of MacSpeech Scribe, a personal transcription solution for the Macintosh. The company also announced MacSepech Scribe add-ons for the medical and legal transcription markets.

Now for the first time, a Macintosh user running the Snow Leopard operating system can transcribe his recorded voice into written text with up to 99 percent accuracy, in a single button click. MacSpeech Scribe automatically creates an individual speech profile, in one of 13 English dialects, from an initial recorded sample of the person's voice. A single MacSpeech Scribe license can create and use up to six individual voice profiles, each compatible with all accepted audio file formats. MacSpeech Scribe accepts audio files in .wav, .aif, .aiff, .m4v, mp4, or .m4a formats.

When composing a letter or other document by voice, users can include spoken punctuation, and MacSpeech Scribe will automatically include the punctuation marks in the output text.

"MacSpeech Scribe significantly advances the MacSpeech quest to create the best speech recognition and, now, transcription solutions on the Macintosh," explained Andrew Taylor, founder and CEO of MacSpeech. "One person, their profile, an audio file, one button click. It just doesn't get any easier than that."

MacSpeech Dictate Legal supports more than 30,000 legal-specific words and terms. The medical version fully understands and supports vocabularies for more than 54 medical and dental disciplines and specialties, including general medicine, cardiology, dentistry, OB/GYN, pediatrics, pediatric dentistry, radiology, neurology, oncology, psychiatry, urology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and many more.

Both versions require Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and are available for $99 for currently registered MacSpeech Dictate Legal or Medical customers only, directly from the MacSpeech Web site at: <http://www.macspeech.com/>.

MacSpeech also began conducting live hands-on technology demonstrations of the upcoming "via Dictate" iPhone extension app to MacSpeech Dictate. The sneak peak demonstrations are exclusively for attendees at Macworld Conference and Expo 2010.

The via Dictate app allows the iPhone to be used as a remote extension of MacSpeech Dictate, when MacSpeech Dictate is running on a Macintosh. The via Dictate app is intended for distribution at no additional cost, plus requires Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and a launched MacSpeech Dictate running on a machine accessible by via Dictate.
