Nuance Powers Voice Search in Grainger's Mobile App

Grainger, a North American supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) products, announced that it has integrated Nuance's voice recognition via the Dragon Mobile SDK as part of the NDEV Mobile developer program.

Grainger's mobile app offers customers access to the company's more than 900,000 products, allowing MRO professionals to search for products, check their availability, and order them while on the go.

"The mobile user experience must be about usability and convenience," said Matt Revis, vice president and general manager of handset business at Nuance Mobile, in a statement. "The NDEV Mobile developer program gives Grainger the ability to further differentiate their unique mobile experience with the power and productivity made possible by Dragon."

The Grainger mobile app is currently available for free in the Apple App Store for the iPhone, iPad, and iPhone touch, and on Google Play for Android devices.

Nuance's Dragon Mobile SDK, available as part of the NDEV Mobile developer program, lets developers rapidly bring voice-enabled apps to market with access to Nuance's Dragon voice recognition and text-to-speech technology for any application on Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7, and virtually any platform via a HTTP Web services interface. The Dragon Mobile SDK powers the voice recognition and text-to-speech capabilities of some of the most popular apps on the market, including Kraft Foods' iFood Assistant, Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, OnStar RemoteLink, and more.
