Wavelink Expands Voice Capabilities for Mobile Applications

Wavelink today announced the addition of Wavelink Speakeasy SDK (Software Development Kit) to the Speakeasy voice platform, allowing Wavelink voice solutions to extend beyond the warehouse to include mobile field sales and services, mobile dispatch, and inspection applications. With voice, organizations can deliver higher productivity, accuracy, and safety by voice-enabling data collection and application commands, functions, and navigation.

The Speakeasy voice platform removes proprietary technology barriers by offering complete client-resident, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text engines and automated voice features that are device-, server-, application-, and network-independent. Enterprises can add voice capabilities to existing applications and hardware, avoiding expensive application modification or replacement and the risk and cost of changing existing business processes.

"By delivering a product that is easy to deploy and integrates with existing systems, voice technology is poised to become widely adopted in the mobile enterprise," said Lamar Van Wagenen, Wavelink's president. "With Wavelink Speakeasy SDK, enterprises can now voice-enable client-side batch applications, in addition to real-time, host-based applications, bringing the value of voice to sales and service personnel in the field."

In addition to removing proprietary technology barriers and providing a simple installation and configuration, Wavelink Speakeasy provides user flexibility. Through native support for multiple languages and regional dialects and through the elimination of user-specific voice profiles, Speakeasy SDK makes it easy to switch from one mobile device user to another. As voice processing occurs on the device before transmitting across the wireless LAN, it also significantly reduces network bandwidth.

Wavelink Speakeasy SDK uses Vangard Voice Systems' AccuSpeech Mobile technology. Speakeasy adds voice support to existing terminal emulation applications. In addition to adding Speakeasy SDK to its portfolio, Wavelink is extending Speakeasy to Wavelink Studio, a widely adopted wireless application development tool.
