Chris Rhyss Edwards is a military veteran, AI researcher, and founder of CommonLayer.ai. He is currently completing a PhD in artificial intelligence focused on voice-first conversational AI, human–AI interaction, and mental health applications.

Prior to CommonLayer.ai, he built and led a health-tech company, gaining deep experience across clinical, enterprise, and regulated healthcare environments. He is also author of The Silence Paradox, exploring the intersection of technology, human connection, and mental well-being.
