Brooktrout Releases Low-Density Version of Voice Platform

NEEDHAM, MA - Brooktrout Technology Inc. announced new low-density versions of its TR1000™ voice platform targeted at developers of enterprise voice applications.  With new versions and feature enhancements, the TR1000 is designed to allow application vendors to streamline development, deploy broadly and support their products more cost-effectively than with competing platforms. According to Brooktrout, it's Brooktrout's TR1000 now includes new analog and ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) versions along with existing T1/E1 versions—a full range of configurations for customers developing interactive voice response (IVR), automatic speech recognition (ASR), voice mail and unified messaging applications.  The TR1000 also includes enhanced high-level call control and additional operating system support.

"Brooktrout's TR1000 provides Phonetic Systems' applications the ultimate flexibility in traditional and IP telephony deployments for our customers," said John McCready, vice president of marketing from Phonetic Systems. "Brooktrout's support for VoiceGenie's VoiceXML platform made integrating the TR1000 into our product a virtual snap. Also, Brooktrout's extensive co-marketing programs and strong channel presence are consistent with our goal of expanding our enterprise market reach."

The TR1000 platform includes two and four channel BRI versions, four and eight channel analog versions, and 24, 30, 48 and 60 channel T1/E1 versions.  For smaller installations, analog lines are still prevalent throughout the Americas and much of Asia, while BRI is most common in Europe and Japan.  For larger installations, T1 and E1 are the preferred interfaces.

"Brooktrout's support for Basic Rate ISDN is very important to our GlobalComServer product line due to the prevalence of BRI throughout Europe," said Florent Garel, vice president for AVM. "We have developed on Brooktrout's industry leading fax products for years, so it was an easy decision to adopt their voice platform as a way to expand our product line into voice and unified messaging."

All versions of Brooktrout's TR1000 are available now. Also a new developer program designed to speed application adoption, the Brooktrout Net, provides new developers benefits.  The TR1000 product is approved for use in Australia, Canada, European Union, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States depending on the model.
