Loquendo has provided its text-to-speech (TTS) technology to Caja Madrid, one of Spain’s leading banks, which has integrated the technology into its network of ATMs.

Approximately 9 percent of the Spanish population has some form of sensory or physical impairment, representing almost 4 million Spanish citizens. Thanks to Loquendo’s multilingual TTS, Caja Madrid’s ATMs now provide audible operational instructions in Castilian Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Valencian, Portuguese, French, German, and English .

Caja Madrid’s speech-enabled ATMs are able to read out the screen menu, along with instructions and transaction details, to assist the user and ensure the maximum level of security during the operation, especially for the visually impaired. All ATMs feature a specially adapted headphone socket to guarantee confidentiality.

"It gives us great satisfaction that Caja Madrid, one of the leading banks in Spain and Europe, has selected Loquendo speech technologies to improve accessibility in its network of ATMs," said Davide Franco, Loquendo's CEO. "Loquendo products are available in 28 languages, giving our clients the potential to provide this service to nearly 100 percent of their customers, regardless of nationality."
