Canary Speech Launches Canary Ambient Continuous Monitoring to Address Workplace Violence in Healthcare

Canary Speech, a provider of vocal biomarker technology, has launched Canary Ambient Continuous Monitoring (CM), which delivers real-time aggression detection and ambient voice analysis for hospitals, health systems, and clinical care environments.

Canary Ambient CM is an expansion of Canary Speech's real-time voice analysis capabilities, introducing continuous monitoring to proactively detect verbal aggression and signs of clinician burnout before incidents escalate.

"The increase in aggressive behavior toward hospital staff, mostly nurses but also other caregivers, has been well-documented," said Dr. Kang Hsu, Jr., chief medical officer at Canary Speech, in a statement. "With Canary Ambient CM, you can now analyze in-room audio to detect whether a patient is speaking aggressively and alert staff to this issue before it escalates to verbal or physical violence."

As part of this launch, Teladoc Health will integrate Canary Ambient CM into its AI-powered monitoring platform to strengthen virtual workplace safety intervention. The system's ambient listening capabilities analyze in-room audio through Canary's aggressive language vocal biomarker technology. When an escalating threat is detected, Canary's analysis helps inform Teladoc Health's workplace safety assessment algorithms, triggering intelligent notifications to care teams and hospital staff for timely intervention.
