Domino's Pizza Uses Jacent's Voice-ordering Systems with PIKA Technologies' Voice Cards

OTTAWA, CANADA - Jacent Technologies, a developer of voice solutions, has chosen voice cards from PIKA Technologies to complete their new OrderStream platform. Jacent recently announced availability of their first product based on this platform, OrderStream for Domino's Pizza. PIKA Technologies designs and manufactures computer plug-in voice cards that connect systems, like OrderStream, to the telephone network to provide advanced phone services. OrderStream is a stand-alone telephone system that enables voice ordering as well as routing and managing calls. To enable the speech recognition capabilities, Jacent designed PIKA voice cards and a SpeechWorks speech engine into the OrderStream system. PIKA Technologies just released their latest application programming interface (API) through the PIKA MonteCarlo 6 software developer kit. Jacent is now porting OrderStream to the MonteCarlo 6 API. The PIKA voice cards feature low latency, full duplex audio streaming, as well as echo cancellation, optimized buffer sizes, pre-speech buffering, barge-in and voice activity detection. The PIKA cards stream the clean audio to the speech engine for processing speech. The speech recognition engine interprets the content of the buffers, and responds back to the application. The end result is what excites Domino's restaurant owners. Their customers can place their own delivery and take-out orders, and employees can focus on making pizzas and getting pizzas delivered on time. "We did our homework when it came to selecting the right voice card for OrderStream," explained Shawn Cunningham, Vice President Marketing, Jacent. "Keeping the pizza chain owner in mind, we needed a cost effective solution without sacrificing on quality. We knew that we'd need a lot of support from our voice card vendor and we'd heard that PIKA Technologies had a great reputation for being responsive and reliable. We give them high marks on all three fronts: cost effective total solution, high quality cards, and a technical support team that goes the extra mile." "Jacent is deploying a highly innovative speech recognition solution," said Terry Atwood, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, PIKA Technologies. "Although focused on the pizza segment of the restaurant market today, Jacent sees vast potential for this solution in other segments. We believe Jacent will capture a huge slice of many markets."
