Fanstel Implements VoIP Phone Reference Design

ATLANTA—Unicoi Systems, a provider of realtime multimedia software and reference designs to embedded device developers and OEMs worldwide, announced that Fanstel Corporation has selected Unicoi Systems' IP Phone Reference Design for the development of Fanstel's Voice over IP (VoIP) telephones and speaker phones.

Unicoi Systems' full-featured VoIP Phone Reference Design is built around the Blackfin ADSP-BF536 Processor from Analog Devices, Inc., and Unicoi's voice engine software, a comprehensive VoIP solution designed to produce the best quality sound possible in Internet telephony. The solution integrates features such as Unicoi's family of voice codecs, acoustic (AEC) and line echo cancellation (LEC) software, a dynamic jitter buffer, Voice Activity Detection (VAD), Comfort Noise Generation (CNG), three-way conferencing and SIP based call processing.

"While we considered a number of solutions, the seamless integration of Unicoi Systems' proven voice software and Analog Devices' powerful Blackfin processor was clearly unmatched," says Dr. Yuan Fan, President of Fanstel. "Unicoi's IP Phone Reference Design will simplify the design and development of our VoIP phone, reduce our overall development costs, and enable Fanstel to bring a unique and differentiated VoIP phone quickly to market."

Unicoi Systems offers a scalable line of VoIP reference designs for the residential, SOHO, small business and enterprise markets. Continuously upgraded to support new features and emerging RFCs, complete reference design solutions are available for IP phones, terminal adapters, routers and gateways.
