Gionee Selects ART smARTspeak XG as Voice Recognition Standard for Its Line of Mobile Phones

ATLANTA, Ga. - Gionee Corporation has selected the smARTspeak® XG embedded speech interface from Advanced Recognition Technologies (ART) as the voice recognition standard for its new line of handheld phones. Gionee offers more than 10 phone models and is a  research and development organization in the Chinese mobile phone industry.

GN 635The new Chinese version of smARTspeak XG voice interface has been integrated onto the TTPcom ADI430 chipset, which is used by Gionee for its newest line of mobile phones.

The smARTspeak XG is an embedded speaker independent name dialing solution designed for wireless phones and mobile devices. The smARTspeak XG is speaker independent, meaning it can be operated by any user with no voice training of the device. In addition, it incorporates: continuous digit dialing, speaker independent command and control, and trainable continuous digit dialing for custom languages.

"The smARTspeak XG technology is clearly the best Chinese language voice interface on the market," said Zhang Gaoxian, the IMC director of Gionee. "ART has created a product that is ideally suited to our GN 636requirements-small in size and large in performance."

The features of the smARTspeak XG enables users to dial by speaking a person's name or phone number. In addition, the phone will recognize commands such as "contact" and "redial" and offers trainable digit dialing that can be adjusted to a user's accent. When more than one name is available, ART's "Best Match" function presents a short-list of options either as text or voice.
