M*Modal Launches Program for Integrating Speech Understanding Technology in Healthcare IT
M*Modal, a provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding solutions, announced a new certification program for electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare systems.
The M*Modal Partner Certification Program is designed to help healthcare IT (HCIT) vendors seamlessly integrate advanced speech recognition and natural language understanding features into their systems using M*Modal's Fluency Direct solution.
M*Modal has formalized the certification program to support the healthcare ecosystem with a speech technology platform. The program, offered to vendors at no cost, combines technology support, training, marketing alignment, and sales strategy to enhance EHRs, radiology information systems, and picture archive and communication systems. Participating vendors will join current M*Modal partners and HCIT industry leaders, including Allscripts, Merge, and Greenway.

As more healthcare providers go live on system implementations, speech can be an important part of helping them achieve "meaningful use" and meeting federal requirements for system utilization, the company said. With Fluency Direct, physicians can improve their productivity by creating and editing patient information at the point of care using front-end speech recognition. Unlike other speech-to-text applications, Fluency Direct can voice-enable existing clinical systems, going beyond template dictation to include full voice navigation and customized commands across application features and functions, according to M*Modal.
