M*Modal Tapped by Flagler Hospital for Speech-Driven Clinical Documentation

M*Modal, a provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding solutions, today announced that Flagler Hospital has integrated M*Modal Fluency Direct, Fluency for Transcription, and Fluency for Imaging software, as part of its health IT infrastructure, enabling Flagler’s physicians, pathologists, and radiologists to create patient records using their voices.

Based in St. Augustine, Fla., Flagler Hospital is a 335-bed, acute care hospital. To reduce documentation costs and enhance physician satisfaction with its Allscripts electronic medical record (EMR) and GE Centricity imaging systems, Flagler chose M*Modal’s Fluency solutions.

"We were looking for speech technology software that offered the highest possible accuracy, supported existing workflows with fast turnaround time, and was easy to use," said Dr. Michael Sanders, chief medical information officer at Flagler Hospital, in a statement. "M*Modal's Fluency products met all of our criteria and have the best speech accuracy we've seen on the market. The software understood different dialects easily and required minimal training to get up and running."

"We are empowering physicians to verbally create a central patient record in real time," said Matt Jenkins, senior vice president of corporate development at M*Modal, in a statement. "Our Fluency products combine Speech Understanding technology, structured multimedia reporting, workflow management, and real-time physician feedback to more efficiently capture the fullness of the patient story and drive actions that support improved patient care."
