Nuance Unveils Vocalizer 2.0 for U.K. English

MENLO PARK, CA - Nuance (Nasdaq:NUAN) introduced Nuance Vocalizer 2.0 text-to-speech (TTS) software for U.K. English. Designed to simplify the development of voice-enabled applications, Nuance Vocalizer 2.0 allows companies to automate the delivery of dynamic information such as email, news feeds and stock quotes, by converting written text into spoken words. Nuance Vocalizer 2.0 for U.K. English is available in both a male and female voice. With its Speak As One capability, Nuance Vocalizer 2.0 enables companies to use the same voice talent for both TTS and recorded prompts. This results in a single "personality" throughout the system and a more conversational caller experience. "A speech application is successful if it creates a compelling, over-the-phone experience for customers," said Ronald Croen, president, CEO and chairman, Nuance. "Nuance Vocalizer 2.0 is a critical part of creating such an experience because it eliminates the robotic sounds and inconsistent transitions historically associated with text-to-speech software. By making the interaction between the customer and the speech application more natural, enterprises are able to boost caller satisfaction, thus enabling greater call automation rates and a faster return on investment."
