O'Reilly Automotive Expands Use of Vocollect Voice

O’Reilly Automotive, a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment, and accessories with 3,415 stores in 38 states, is transitioning its distribution centers to a paperless  network by greatly expanding its use of voice systems from Vocollect.

Through its acquisition last year of CSK Auto, as well as the establishment of additional  warehouses to support its growing business, the company projects it will have a significant number of distribution centers using Vocollect Voice within the next four to five years, according to Greg Johnson, senior vice president of distribution operations.

“Our productivity and accuracy levels continue to improve throughout our distribution operations with the use of voice from Vocollect,”  Johnson said. “Last year, we processed over 96 million lines using Vocollect Voice. Voice has helped us to reduce cost, improve customer satisfaction and overall business performance, as well as achieve a very positive return on investment. Vocollect also will help us in our continuing efforts to transition to paperless DCs,” he said.

O’Reilly is currently using Vocollect Voice for picking in most of its existing DCs. All future new DCs will activate their operation with Vocollect. Other existing O’Reilly DCs are at various stages in their transition to a voice-centric solution.

“Driving bottom-line results is what the Vocollect solution is all about. O’Reilly’s success in unleashing a higher level of business performance through voice is a testament to the company’s ability to gain a continuing value from its investment,” said Joe Pajer, president of supply chain solutions at Vocollect. “Through five years of continued growth and expansion, Vocollect has helped O’Reilly achieve its productivity and accuracy goals across its network of DCs, and we are pleased that the company is expanding its use of Vocollect Voice to other DC operations,” he said
