OneTok Releases Voice-Enabled Mobile Apps
OneTok has released a platform that provides developers with a way to voice-enable any app for all major smartphones and tablet operating systems, with native support for Android, BlackBerry 10, and iOS.
OneTok is a cloud-based platform that lets developers configure any word or phrase to invoke any activity in their app with just a few clicks. Smartphone and tablet users now can simply use their voice for tasks such as controlling and navigating apps, entering their login, or conducting a search, the company said.
OneTok native voice commands include:
- Log in and out
- Post to Facebook
- Share via email or Twitter
- Save to favorites
- Search
- Enter credit card information
- Navigate back or forward
- Zoom in and out
A plug-in for PhoneGap extends OneTok to additional development environments. Upcoming versions of OneTok will add native support for Windows Phone 8 and integration with additional third-party development platforms.
"Too many developers [force their customers] to peck out words on a tiny keyboard and poke at virtual buttons," company founder Ben Lilienthal said in a statement. "But developers aren't doing that by choice. Today's voice-enablement tools are overly complex and designed to make their vendors money. OneTok puts developers first, freeing them to focus on providing a great user experience."
The top 10 commands library is available today and free to use until the end of the year. After that, the service will introduce success-based tiered pricing depending on usage.
