Philips to Introduce Mobile Speech Recognition Solutions for Radiologists

VIENNA, ITALY - Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE:PHG) will provide mobile dictation and speech recognition solutions based on its speech recognition software, SpeechMagic. According to Royal Philips, radiologists will be able to dictate reports independent of their workstation, using mobile input devices.

In a wireless LAN set-up, ECR visitors will be able to dictate radiology reports with a PDA. The sound file will automatically be transmitted to the speech recognition server, corrected by an assistant, and returned to the PDA for final approval by the author.

"Radiologists often dictate on different workstations and change locations between dictations. With mobile input devices, physicians are no longer tied to a rigid workflow, but have the freedom to do their work in the most efficient way," said Marcel Wassink, Managing Director, Philips Speech Recognition Systems. "What we are showing today will significantly improve the working conditions of tomorrow," he adds.
