Unisys Chosen by Sprint for Next-Generation Voice Messaging

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Unisys signed a five-year, multimillion-dollarcontract with Sprint to help it enhance its voicemail infrastructure.

?Unisys will develop a next-generation communications architecture that will allow Sprint the flexibility to more rapidly deploy new and innovative services for its customers.

Unisys will provide high-level consulting and systems integration services and a communications platform, which will deliver enhanced services over a unified messaging platform, to Sprint's more than 53 million customers. Unisys currently provides the communications messaging platform for a subset of the Sprint wireless network.

Unisys will be providing Sprint with a flexible, modular services architecture that will enable Sprint to provide its customers with enhanced voicemail, multimedia, entertainment, and other enhanced services on a single platform. This open, modular approach allows communications providers like Sprint to decrease the time needed to bring new services to market and enables easy integration with best-in-class applications.

"Sprint is committed to being the leader in a converging telecommunications marketplace," said Iyad Tarazi, vice president of network development at Sprint. "As part of our continued investment in enhancing our customers' experience, we chose to modernize our service environment to build a more seamless, unified set of services. Unisys offers us the next generation of technology to support our strategy."

Unisys chose Data Connection Limited (DCL) as one of its key partners for next-generation voice messaging. DCL will be providing the voice messaging software for the communications messaging platform.
