Vialto Delivers Secure Voice Interface to Microsoft Exchange

Vialto, a provider of voice-driven multimodal applications for the mobile workforce, introduced a new release of its E2Go product.

E2Go now uses the Outlook Web Access (OWA) XML-access model to enable mobile professionals to manage their Microsoft Exchange email, contacts and calendar from any phone. OWA has become a standard for enabling secure access to corporate email through a Web browser. By supporting the OWA model, E2Go now delivers, from any phone, the same level of security along with the convenience of a voice-driven anywhere, anytime interface to Exchange.

Vialto also announced that E2Go has qualified for the Premium .NET Connected Logo, awarded by Microsoft to select companies that adhere to stringent Web services standards while building on the Microsoft Platform. An increasing number of enterprises are addressing the demand for information access by mobile employees. As part of these initiatives, the security of sensitive data such as email is frequently identified as an issue of paramount importance.

Many businesses already allow employees to access their email through a Web browser using the secure OWA interface. Vialto E2Go now takes advantage of that same interface and allows mobile users to issue voice commands such as "email from Bob Jones" to securely retrieve and send messages from any phone. Vialto E2Go also lowers the cost of supporting mobile workers. Until recently, users have had to install special software to synchronize or upload their Outlook data to voice systems. Using E2Go, Vialto users do not have to install any software or run any synchronization routines. They register on a web page and can call in to Vialto's voice server immediately to access their information.

"Our customers are already enjoying the many benefits of a voice-driven interface, whether they're voice-dialing hands-free in the car, checking their schedule while traveling abroad, or simply checking messages between meetings," said Ramneek Bhasin, CEO of Vialto. "With E2Go, Vialto is also delivering secure access to information that reduces the cost of making mobile users productive and fully leverages the infrastructure investments that companies have already made."

Premium .NET Connected Logo Certification
Vialto E2Go has recently passed all the certification tests to meet the requirements for the Premium .NET Connected Logo and becomes a voice-driven solution on a list of the Microsoft .NET partners. The .NET Connected Logo signifies a product or service that businesses can use to integrate well with their .NET-connected solutions. This is important since the ease of integration with a company's existing software infrastructure enables voice-driven solutions to be deployed more rapidly.

"We are pleased to welcome Vialto to the .NET Connected Logo Program," said Lynn Cafferty, Microsoft Product Manager. "Vialto offers a compelling voice solution that is highly complementary to many of the other solutions built on the .NET Framework, and we look forward to seeing more companies adopt voice and .NET for their mobile workers."
